Do this work the way you always knew it should be done.

Learn Through Play ABA was founded by a BCBA who wanted to own the whole experience a family has with us, from the first phone call to the last session, and get it right. We bring play-based ABA into family homes across Bergen County and Passaic County, NJ, and we are hiring BCBAs and RBTs who hold the same standard.

Why we exist

Started by a BCBA to get the whole experience right.

Isabel Hait, BCBA and LBA, started Learn Through Play ABA because she wanted to own the whole experience a family has with us, end to end, and make sure every part of it is right. Not just the session. Everything around it.

We take a holistic approach, and the whole experience stands on three legs: how we communicate with families, the clinical work itself, and parent training. Clear communication means a family always knows what happened today, what comes next and who to reach. The clinical work is led by a BCBA and happens where the child lives and plays. Parent training carries the work into the rest of the child’s day, and we collaborate with the family and with the other professionals in the child’s life so the child can thrive and reach their full potential. None of the three works fully without the other two. To make the biggest difference for a child, all three have to be given the same weight, and here they are.

If that standard matters to you, you will feel at home here. We put care and service ahead of profit, and we grow only as fast as we can keep every family at that standard, so you will never be asked to cut corners. We would love to have you with us.

We are here to expand what is possible for a child, and for the family around them. It happens one skill, one family, one day at a time.

Why us

Why here

Here is what working here is built on.

A BCBA founded this practice, and she leads it clinically.

Isabel Hait, BCBA and LBA, started Learn Through Play ABA and leads it clinically. Every plan here is written and supervised by a BCBA, and the standard you are held to was set by someone who holds the credential. When you have a clinical question, you ask a clinician.

We communicate with families like it matters, because it does.

The best clinical work still depends on how a family hears about it. So we treat communication as part of the clinical work: parents know what happened today, what comes next and who to reach. Hablamos español, and Spanish-speaking families are part of who we serve.

Parent training is part of every plan.

A child spends part of the week in session and all of it with their family, so a plan that leaves parents out leaves most of the child’s day out. We advocate for parent training with every family and build it into the work, not around it. As an RBT you leave parents with what worked today; as a BCBA you coach them, on purpose, as part of the plan.

The living room, not a clinic room.

Every session happens in the family’s home. You teach skills where the child will actually use them, with their own toys, their own routines and their own people. Play is the method, not a break from the work.

The two rules we run on

Quality of service comes before growth. Families and clients are people, not numbers.

We grow only as fast as we can keep every session and every family at that standard.

Changing lives, one skill at a time.

Our team

When you grow, we grow.

We care about the people who do this work, and it shows in how we run the practice.

A supportive environment

You are never on your own. An RBT with a question about a session and a BCBA weighing a hard call both have the clinical lead and the office a call away, and asking for a second opinion here is a sign you are doing the job right.

Room and reason to grow

We invest in your training after you start, not only before, and we make room for people to take on more as they are ready: new families, mentoring, supervision and leadership as the practice grows.

Your success is our success

Every family we serve well is served by one of you. When you do well, the practice does well, and we build it so that stays true.

The work

What a day here actually looks like

No two days match, because no two children do. This is the shape of it.

A day as an RBT here

  • You drive to a family’s home in Bergen or Passaic County and set up in the space the child already knows.
  • You run a session built around play, working from the plan your BCBA wrote for this child, so the learning happens while the playing does.
  • You take data as you go, because the plan changes based on what actually happens in the room.
  • You leave the parent with what worked today, so it carries on after you go.
  • You check in with your BCBA, who reviews the data with you and adjusts the plan.

A day as a BCBA here

  • You assess a child in their own home, with direct observation, interviews and standardized tools.
  • You write the plan: specific goals, teaching strategies and supports, built around the family’s priorities.
  • You supervise the RBTs delivering it and coach them on what you see.
  • You coach parents, so skills carry across the whole day and not just the session.
  • You review progress on a regular basis and adjust the plan as the child grows.

Questions

Questions candidates ask us

Do I need my RBT credential already? Do you train?

You can apply without it. The RBT role asks for an active credential or the willingness to complete the 40-hour training and pass the RBT exam. If you complete the 40-hour training and pass the RBT exam, we reimburse the cost of the training once you have worked with us for three months. Once you are on the team, training is ongoing.

Is Spanish required?

No. It is a plus for both roles. Hablamos español, and we serve Spanish-speaking families. If you speak it, you will use it.

Where are the families?

Bergen County and Passaic County, NJ. Every session is in the family’s home, so you will need reliable transportation.

What is supervision like?

A BCBA writes every plan and supervises the RBTs delivering it. Your BCBA reviews the data and the child’s progress with you on a regular basis and adjusts the plan as you go. You are not on your own.

What happens after I apply?
